The OMC 4 Track: Eskimo Joe

Eskimo Joe are an Australian alt-rock band formed in East Fremantle, WA in 1997. Well worth international attention and the reason I am featuring them this week as our OMC 4 Track, Eskimo Joe’s music speaks for its self (check it out below).

Consisting of just 3 members, vocalist and bassist Kavyen Temperley, drummer and guitarist Joel Quartermain and guitarist Stuart MacLeod. The group have released four albums since 2001 with all of them doing well in the Australian charts, their debut album Girl (2001) went gold, followed up by A Song Is a City sometime later in 2004, the third album Black Fingernails, Red Wine (2006) went four times platinum and the forth album Inshalla was released back in 2009 and has been described as “a gigantic ripsnorter of an album, equal parts foreign and local and loaded front to back with a slew of potential hits”.

For me, Eskimo Joe are another of many Australian acts who add to the diversity and quality of the Australian music scene. A scene we hope the rest of the world will discover and enjoy as much as we do.
