World War Z Movie: Rising From The Almost Dead

Max Brooks, The author of World War Z has confirmed in an interview with FearNet that the film adaptation of his tale of the zombie apocalypse is still very much alive or in this case undead.

“Paramount just renewed the option for World War Z, for half the time and twice the money, so that might signal interest. We still got our director, Marc Forster, who’s raring to go. Were all waiting on Matt Carnahan’s new draft, which should come in a month or so… The size of the book, the scope of the book, makes it hard to produce, in that this thing’s gotta be done right or it just can’t be done. You can’t do a cheap and dirty World War Z. It’s a world war, and I think that makes studio executives nervous. I think it limits its options, so that’s running against it.”

IMDB still has the project categorized as in development with a projected 2012 release date. Until then I’ll sit here patiently with fingers crossed looking forward to seeing one of my favourite books come to life, or reanimation on the big screen. If you haven’t read it, get it here, read it, tell your friends about it. A thank you goes out to Baz for making me buy a copy on my last trip to Edinburgh and not being able to put the bugger down for the rest of the trip.
