A Man wears a couples costume for one of three reasons: it is sexy, it is specific, or it gets him home.
Gentlemen,
Every October a man gets handed half of a costume. The rule is not "no." The rule is that the costume has to earn it, and there are exactly three ways it can.
One: it is sexy, and it gets the two of you going. Nobody at the party needs to know why you both left at ten.
Two: it is specific. Formula 1 pit crew with matching headsets is a theme. Peter Pan and Tinker Bell is a punishment. If it took the two of you a conversation to plan, it counts. If it came in one bag, it does not.
Three, the worst case: it gets you to your goal at the end of the night. Maybe the goal is the bedroom. Maybe the goal is getting to go home by eleven. Every man's journey is different, and the costume is the ticket.
