A Cruise Comeback?

Once an icon for films like Top Gun, Risky Business, Jerry Maguire, and many others, actor Tom Cruise has lost a great deal of popularity over the last couple of years. Starting with his rather ridiculous appearance on Oprah, to all that Scientology business, to the rumors of his strange home life, the media, and South Park, blitz has been relentless. Slowly but surely he has put the Ray Ban sunglasses back on and begun to reclaim his old style.

I really believe a lot of this turn around came from his performance in Tropic Thunder, where he played Hollywood mega-mogul Les Grossman.  Good news for Cruise, and us, is that a spin off movie based on his Tropic Thunder character has been approved.  This was announced just after Les Grossman appeared on the MTV Movie Awards.  Ben Stiller, a Tropic Thunder co-star and director, has been selected to direct this new Grossman film.  When asked about the movie Stiller said Les assured him to make “Citizen f—ing Kane look like a piece of crap home movie”. Definitely looking forward to this one. Little sample of Les:
