The OMC 4 Track: The Black Keys

The Black Keys is not a band short on praise. Members of Radiohead, Queens of the Stone Age, the Arctic Monkeys, Metallica, and ZZ Top have all admitted to being fans of the Black Keys, and with good reason. The band’s two members, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, have created a completely unique sound. It’s the sheer simplicity of this music that makes it so impacting. This impact can almost be compared to listening to the Jimi Hendrix Experience or even Led Zeppelin (yeah I went that far).
A combination of classic Rock n’ Roll and heavily infused Blues gives a feeling of down and dirty soulful blues. One can really imagine sitting in a dimly lit bar or club listening to the Black Keys. Another great thing about this band is that they don’t take themselves too seriously, watch their music videos and you will immediately be reminded of the Flight of the Conchords. There really isn’t much one can write about The Black Keys as their music speaks for itself.
